    The Berwyn Development Corporation #hireberwyn campaign provides the connection of our local Educators/Teachers/Students with Business/Employers resulting in workforce success.  The resources listed are interested in partnering with local businesses who have an interest in providing students and young adults employment opportunities within the community.  This includes seeking part time or full-time jobs while in high school as well as post-graduation, volunteer opportunities and internship experiences.  Some of these resources also offer paid internship programs to participating businesses.

    Morton College Community and Continuing Education non-credit programs reflect the latest industry and real-world development trends and offer exciting learning opportunities for our diverse community. These non-credit classes help students' reach their personal goals, whether that is employment, entertainment, or social engagement, in a short amount of time. The classes are offered in various formats in-person, hybrid, virtual and online. Continuing Education program offers non-credit certificates for job seekers in industries with high-demand positions, including Healthcare, Hospitality, and Logistics & Transportation.  Students who earn an employer-recognized certificate are much more likely to find steady employment in the industry of their choice. The certificate courses are also for professionals already working in the field who are looking to advance their careers.

    NAMI Metro Suburban IPS Supportive Employment Program is designed to help individuals with mental health issues find and/or retain employment, as well as transition from high school to college. We work with our clients,  in tangent with other supports that they may have to provide job readiness skills, career coaching, and follow along support. 
     
    Services provided in English and Spanish (IPS) is an evidence-based practice supported by Dartmouth University. NAMI’s IPS adherence to best practice guidelines has made NAMI a leader in the field of employment for people with severe mental illness.
     
    A NAMI Employment Specialist will work with you to come up with a career plan focused on your personal goals and preferences. The focus is on finding a balance between employment and your own recovery goals.

    Pillars Community Health offers a supported employment program called Individual Placement & Support (IPS) Employment Services. The IPS Employment Services program uses an evidence-based approach to help individuals with a mental illness find and maintain regular employment.

     

    • IPS Employment Services includes placement and ongoing support with assisting with tasks like resume building, interview skills, and job retention with special attention to worker preferences and are available at NO COST.
    • To be eligible, clients must meet the following criteria: express a desire to gain employment; be at least 16 years old; have a diagnosed mental illness; be willing to engage in other Pillars Community Health service or working with the Illinois Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).

    SERCO’s youth program’s serve youth ages 16-24. Our services are geared towards young adults who are disconnected from both work and school by encouraging youth to participate in paid internships while discovering a career pathway. Our programs feature, job readiness and career exploration, internship placement, sector-specific training, job retention support and wrap around services. We also offer GED services and work with the WIOA grant for certificate training.
