Business Districts

Berwyn’s original developers marketed the new community as “the place for homes and business” and that statement is even more accurate today. Although businesses are “everywhere” in Berwyn, the community has four distinct business and shopping areas, each with their own history, architecture, and business diversity.

These geographic areas, now established also as Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Districts provide a wide array of products and services for area residents. To find out about TIF Area assistance programs available for businesses – click here!

Roosevelt Road, or 12th Street in Berwyn, marks the border between the Village of Oak Park and the City of Berwyn. Historically home to many bars and nightspots  in  the days when neighboring communities prohibited the sale of liquor,  Roosevelt Road  has since developed into an important commercial corridor with a nightclub, restaurants,  a wholesale and retail bakery, and diverse retail and service businesses.
